Why is there a charge on my credit card?
If you have an Impact Account, you’ll see a charge on your credit card reading “CHARITABLE IMPACT” when you add money to your Impact Account from your card.
If you give without an Impact Account, “CHARITABLE IMPACT” will appear on your credit card statement if you’ve donated to a charity that uses Charitable Impact’s donation button on their website, or if you’ve given to a charity using Charitable Impact’s website without signing into or registering for an Impact Account.
What is Charitable Impact?
Charitable Impact is a public foundation that operates as a donor-advised fund. In short, this means you can manage your charitable giving from one account, which we call the Impact Account.
When you add money to your Impact Account, you’re actually making a donation to Charitable Impact Foundation, a registered charity and public foundation. It’s why you get a tax receipt after adding money. The funds stay in your account until you let us know that you’d like to send gifts to charities, Giving Groups, and friends and family on Charitable Impact.
In addition, charities, Giving Groups, and Campaigns can choose to use Charitable Impact’s donate button to accept donations on their websites.
See the tax receipts article for information about accessing your tax receipt with or without an Impact Account.
