Manage your personal profile privacy

You can choose whether to allow your personal profile to be discoverable on Charitable Impact. If your profile is discoverable, you’ll be able to select what information on your profile is visible to others.

Making your profile discoverable is an opportunity to let others see who you are friends with on Charitable Impact, and the Giving Groups you manage or are a member of.

Allowing your profile to be discoverable means that others will be able to:

  • find you on Charitable Impact when they search for you
  • view your profile when you send gifts
  • view your profile when you interact with Giving Groups
  • view your profile if your Impact Account profile is discoverable and your display name is made visible to the Public or Friends

Turn Discoverability on or off

On the web:

  1. Select your avatar in the top-right corner of your dashboard, then select Settings.
  2. Select Privacy in the left navigation.
  3. Select the toggle to turn Discoverability on or off.

On the mobile app:

  1. Select Profile from the bottom menu.
  2. Select the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

Note about Discoverability settings:

If you signed up for an Impact Account before October 21, 2019 your personal profile is not discoverable by default. If you signed up for an Impact Account after October 21, 2019, your personal profile is set to discoverable by default.

Visibility

Visibility enables you to select what information on your personal profile can be seen by others. Visibility selections become available when you allow your profile to be discoverable.

On the web:

You can select from three levels of visibility for the following details in your personal profile: Friends, Impact Accounts, Giving Groups you’ve joined, and Giving Groups you manage.

The levels of visibility are:

  • Public - Information will be visible to all users who view your personal profile on Charitable Impact
  • Friends - Information will only be visible to the friends you are connected with on Charitable Impact
  • Private - Information will only be visible to you
  1. Select your avatar in the top-right corner of your dashboard, then select Settings.
  2. Select Privacy in the left-hand navigation.
  3. To change the level of visibility, select the drop down menu next to each category and select Public, Friends, or Private.

Note: If you make your Impact Account visible to the Public or Friends, this means others will be able to see your Impact Account name on your personal profile and select it to view your Impact Account profile.

If your Impact Account profile discoverability is turned off, others will still see your Impact Account name on your personal profile but they will not be able to select it to view your Impact Account profile. Learn how to manage your Impact Account profile privacy
